Fly away with Delta's new iPad app

Passengers who get bored on long-haul flights have been given a new way to while away the hours when travelling with Delta.

The airline's new iPad app allows travellers to check whereabouts their plane is at any point during the journey with a 'glass bottom' feature, which lets them 'see' the ground below through a series of maps, social network messages and other online content.

Users of the app can connect to it via Delta's onboard Wi-Fi network, which is available on more than 800 planes.
As well as looking at how far they have flown, passengers will be able to book trips, read up on destination guides and use the 'What's Next' feature to plan an itinerary for their trip.

Glen Hauenstein, executive vice-president of network planning, revenue management and marketing at Delta, said: "The incredible functionality and innovation found in the new iPad app embodies all that we're doing to further improve the digital experience customers have with Delta."
